The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is a founding member of the Alzheimer's Association which is the largest national voluntary health organization dedicated to advancing research for the causes, treatments, and prevention of Alzheimer's disease. As baby boomers enter the age of greatest risk, Alzheimer's disease is becoming the leading public health crisis of the 21st century.

The mission of the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter is to create and promote comprehensive and humane care for persons with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders, and to provide support for their families and professional caregivers. The Chapter meets this mission in the community through increasing public awareness, providing education, creating and encouraging replication of model programs, collaborating with research centers, and undertaking advocacy.

The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association was established in 1978 by a group of family caregivers. The chapter was formally incorporated and registered as a not-for-profit corporation in New York State in 1985.Our professional staff works with over 400 active volunteers to support, train and educate caregivers, patients and professionals.

Our Brand

The brand of the Alzheimer's Association represents who we are and what we do. It is both a visual symbol of our dual mission of people and science and a commitment that guides us in our daily work in research, advocacy, education, care consultation and support.

During the Association's 25-year history, we have had five brand logos to reflect our evolution as an organization. The current version, adopted in February 2004, is part of a national public awareness campaign to make Alzheimer's a national priority.

While we have changed our look over the years; we haven't veered from our purpose: We're still the Alzheimer's Association and our vision is a world without Alzheimer's.
