Joining a support group is an opportunity to be in a safe caring environment where your concerns are shared by other caregivers. Support groups offer emotional and moral support, practical information and hope during a time of profound challenges.
The New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association offers many Support Groups at a variety of times in different community settings at no charge to the participant. The groups offered fall into three categories: Family Support Groups, Grief and Bereavement Groups, and Groups for people in the Early Stages of Alzheimer's.

We recommend that you attend an Orientation Meeting before joining a support group. To schedule an Orientation Meeting, please e-mail us at helpline@alznyc.org or call the Chapter Helpline at 800.272.3900.
If you need help in selecting a Support Group in the New York City area, please contact Wendy Panken by e-mail at: WPanken@alznyc.org or by phone at: 646.744.2917.
Note that it is essential that you make contact with the group leader before you attend a group for the first time. A personal interview with the support group leader is usually required
