My name is Karin. I am the primary caregiver for my husband Jason for the past 15 years. When we first met, I was drawn to Jason’s love of life, confidence, charisma, and sharp wit, all of which led him to find success as an executive in the apparel industry. In the 24 years we’ve been married, Jason has been a loving partner, great friend and adoring father and grandfather. After two years of friends and family noticing changes in his cognitive abilities, Jason was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2003 at the young age of 60.

While Jason’s compassionate will to help others and limited ability to socialize with family and friends remain intact it is not what it used to be. There have been many changes as the disease progresses. His increasing difficulty in expressing himself, recognizing familiar faces and recalling details, as well as his diminishing ability to maintain independence and need of supervision, have been challenging for us both.
