An Evening Lecture Event: Portraits & Promises in Alzheimer’s Disease
Art Exhibition: The Later Works of William Utermohlen
About the artist. William Utermohlen, a London-based artist known for his rich body of work in portraiture and still lifes, was diagnosed
with Alzheimer’s disease in 1995. It was then he embarked on a series of self-portraits that poignantly and powerfully document the course of
his disease. Through his art, we can see Mr. Utermohlen’s attempt to stay connected to the world around him while he loses the ability to
communicate in other ways. His work is a testimony to the creative and human spirit that resides in all people with Alzheimer’ s disease. This
art exhibition will showcase Mr. Utermohlen’s later works and is open free to the public
