A Reason to Celebrate!
Congratulations to all of the graduates who completed
our 45-hour dementia home care training on June 12.
It was a pleasure to have offered them the skills that are
needed to effectively care for a person with dementia.
This training was offered in Spanish to better meet the
needs of the home health aides. Good Job!
Another great achievement is that our Latino
Outreach program received a prestigious grant by Eisai Inc.
and Pfizer Inc to fund the Family Caregiver Workshop in
Spanish. During the last year and a half, the Chapter has
offered the workshop in English. We will begin to provide
the workshop in Spanish in October 2008.

In NYC, tens of thousands of people with dementia are living at home and being cared for by Home Care Aides. The work
of caring for people with dementia requires specialized skills and exceptional sensitivity. To prepare home care workers to
become part of this much-needed, capable workforce, we at the NYC Chapter offer a variety of training programs. In calendar
year 2007, more than 500 Home Care Aides received our dementia home care training.
