Our Valuable Volunteers

Lincoln Center was the venue for the 2006 Volunteer Recognition Event. Chapter volunteers and staff had a chance to mingle, meet new people and share experiences during the cocktail hour. And, people are still talking about the 5 star hors d-oeuvres which accompanied the cocktails. Attendees were delighted with the evening’s entertainment provided by the group Four on the Floor.

Lou-Ellen Barkan, Mimi Kaplansky & Jane Brachfeld

This troupe of young virtuosi performed and ultimately transformed an exciting repertoire of classical masters with their own distinctive and playful elements of jazz, hip-hop, and rock & roll.

At the Meet the Artist session after the performance, one volunteer asked if Alzheimer’s disease had affected any of the band members or their families.

The response from the leader of the band was moving. He told us that two people close to him suffer from AD, his first music teacher and his beloved grandmother. This, of course, struck a chord with our audience, most of whom are likewise touched by the disease.

Jane Lithgow, Rosemary Irving & Mynette Marcus

It is a reminder of why so many volunteer and reach out to others. We are so grateful to our volunteers, who donate thousands of hours that greatly enhance the mission of our Chapter. We thank you for your time and compassion and look forward to seeing you at next year’s Volunteer Recognition Event.

Sue Rapier, Diane Fezza Sacco, Della Frazier-Rios,
Golda Pincus & Gail Starler
