2008 Volunteer Recognition Day

On April 9th, we were thrilled to honor our Chapter volunteers at the 2008 Volunteer Recognition Day event with a “Meet the Artist” program at Lincoln Center. It was a passionate evening of Flamenco dance and music featuring the hottest Flamenco performers in New York City.

We thanked our many volunteers for their invaluable contributions to the Chapter, letting them know that we simply could not do the work we do without them. Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana Dance Company and Classical and Flamenco Guitarist Carlos Revollar graced the evening with their dynamic movement, raw energy, brilliant sound and musical talent – gifts to those who give to us throughout the year.

Before the performance, Women In Action Committee member Marcia Aronowitz was recognized for her nine years of dedicated service to the Chapter and Junior Committee Vice President Christina Cohen for her hard work since 2004.

With enthusiasm, integrity and compassion, volunteers bring light into the lives of our city’s caregivers and people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Volunteer Recognition Day 2008 was a hand clapping, foot stomping, sizzling event for our NYC Chapter ambassadors.

Our fabulous volunteers continue to:

  • Raise funds for Chapter programs and services at special events;
  • Provide leadership by serving on our Board of Directors, Women In Action Committee and Junior Committee;
  • Make Speakers Bureau educational presentations;
  • “Man” tables at health fairs, street fairs and employee giving campaigns;
  • “Man” tables at health fairs, street fairs, and employee giving campaigns.
  • Translate Chapter materials into Spanish and Chinese;
  • Facilitate support groups;
  • Assist departments with administrative tasks; and
  • Run Legal and Financial seminars for caregivers and people with dementia.
