Tony-Award winner David Hyde Pierce, along with the Women In Action Committee, chaired byTami Schneider, hosted a fun and fabulous evening onOctober 18th to benefit the Chapter. Donors, Chapter board members, staff, friends and other supporters attended a performance of Broadway's smash hit, Curtains. The evening's festivities concluded with a dinner with cast members at Carmine's Restaurant, where the stars mingled with guests, signed autographs and took photos with fans.

We are very grateful to David for his long-standing support of our work. And many thanks to the entire Memory Walk Curtains team, all 34 of you, for walking with us and raising over $22,000!

Coheed and Cambria, a world renowned rock band, held a benefit concert to raise both funds and awareness for Alzheimer's disease on October 19th at NYC's Highline Ballroom. Singer and guitarist Claudio Sanchez lost his aunt,Antonia Cristiano, toAlzheimer's disease last year, and both the concert and their latest album, No World for Tomorrow, are dedicated to her memory.

“This benefit is sort of my way of saying goodbye,” said Sanchez. “My Aunt Toni lived in Manhattan and loved Manhattan. This disease ravaged her and our family. It's hard for me to talk about, but if we can help fight this disease and encourage others to help fight it, then her loss wasn't totally in vain.”

“It's so encouraging to know that a generation of young people are getting involved in the fight against Alzheimer's,” said Lou-Ellen Barkan, NYC Chapter President and CEO. “Our sincere thanks go out to Coheed and Cambria for generously sharing their talent and supporting programs and services provided by the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter.”

More than 700 tickets were sold, with all net proceeds going directly to the Chapter. The event received notable coverage and was featured on Cable network's Fuse TV with interviews of the band and Chapter staff.
