ABOUT OUR SUPPORT GROUPS The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter sponsors support groups for caregivers and people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease at many locations and at no charge. We attempt to keep our directory up-to-date, but groups do change. Caregiver Support Groups are listed by general location in each borough. Many of our groups are co-sponsored with other organizations. This is indicated by an asterisk (*).
Support Group Leader Training Workshops The NYC Chapter also offers Support Group Leader Training Workshops to health care professionals and former caregivers who have an interest in leading caregiver or early stage groups. This 28 hour training opportunity is held on four consecutive Fridays 2 or 3 times a year. Monthly supervision groups are also available to new leaders, as well as to group leaders who are currently leading groups. If you are interested in learning more about the training and supervision, please contact Sharon B. This program has been approved by NASW - New York State for 22.0 contact hours under approval number A-915.
